Once upon time in a faraway land, from London, there was a tiny kingdom, town really, called Maidenshop. Gemma Estep left her Cinderella-ish situation after discovering an opened letter addressed to her from months ago. Feeling far from safe after making a scene when guests were present at her in-laws, she packed up her salves and tinctures, then made her way to the only place she could go.
Mr. Ned Thurlowe, the town doctor, was on a his weekly walk with his betrothed. After years of being engaged, he finally agreed to set a date and celebrated by heavily drinking at The Garland to make him feel at ease. He was not aware of how rowdy the new recruits to the Logical Man’s Society were, especially with the duke back in town, until the next morning when he was disgusted at the mess that was made.
Gemma did not expect to see her beloved uncle’s tavern destroyed. Ned did not expect someone inheriting the society’s meeting place. They did not expect to be attracted to each other. However, they both have issues aside from using different types of healing methods. He wants the building she claims is hers.
